Peter J. Prusinski—your personal, professional, and persistent defense attorney.
I focus 100% of my practice on criminal law and drunk-driving (DUI) defense, and I am not afraid to take your case to trial. I champion individual Constitutional rights not only to protect my clients, but also to maintain integrity and justice for all.
I am admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin and the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. I am a member of the American Bar Association, and the National, Wisconsin and Marathon County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I served as past president of the Marathon County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
I have defended more than nine hundred clients from misdemeanors to murder. Although the majority of my court appearances have been in Marathon County Circuit Court located in Wausau, Wisconsin, I frequently represent clients charged with crimes in the surrounding cities and counties, including as far north as Rhinelander, Medford, Merrill, and Antigo, east to Shawano, and south to Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids.
I provide each and every client with personal attention, professional service, and persistent advocacy.
I also have a history of broad legal experience, including civil litigation and trial experience. I handled numerous civil matters over the years at Crooks, Low & Connell, S.C., including but not limited to: bench trials, personal injury claims and jury trials, temporary restraining orders and injunctions, contested child custody and placement matters, landlord and tenant evictions, and even small claims trials.
I bring my knowledge of immigration law to the field of criminal defense to aid those in particularly difficult situations where one may face deportation, inadmissibility, or ineligibility for legal permanent residence or citizenship because of criminal allegations. Over my career, I helped numerous individuals and families obtain legal permanent residence and U.S. citizenship in northern Wisconsin.
I was born in Milwaukee and later grew up on a small dairy farm in Rib Lake, Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with majors in Philosophy and Business Administration, and a minor in Political Science. I was a collegiate football and track and field athlete. I am a 2010 graduate of Marquette University Law School.
At Marquette, I interned under the Honorable Rebecca F. Dallet (now Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice) in the Milwaukee County Circuit Court Felony Division. I also interned with the Milwaukee Public Defender Trial Division and the Catholic Charities Immigration Project. I made the Dean's List at Marquette and was a member of the St. Thomas More Society.
In 2010, I joined Crooks, Low & Connell, S.C., in Wausau, Wisconsin, and made partner and shareholder.
In 2020, I founded my own legal practice focused exclusively on criminal and traffic defense.
When not defending my clients, I enjoy spending time with my growing family, my church community, and the great outdoors.
