Peter J. Prusinski—your personal, professional, and persistent defense attorney.

I focus 100% of my practice on criminal law and drunk-driving defense. I champion Constitutional rights not only to protect my clients, but also to maintain integrity and justice for all.

I am admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin and the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. I am a member of the American Bar Association, and the National, Wisconsin, and Marathon County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I served as past president of the Marathon County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and re-established the association after the Covid pandemic. Super Lawyers selected me for the Wisconsin Rising Stars List for the past three consecutive years (2020, 2021, and 2022).

I have defended nearly one thousand five hundred clients from misdemeanors to murder. Although the majority of my court appearances have been in Marathon County Circuit Court located in Wausau, Wisconsin, I have represented clients charged with crimes in the surrounding region, including: Taylor County, Lincoln County, Langlade County, Oneida County, Vilas County, Forest County, Price County, Portage County, Wood County, Clark County, and Shawano County.

I also have a history of broad legal experience, including civil litigation and trial experience. I handled numerous civil matters over the years at the law firm of Crooks, Low & Connell, S.C., including but not limited to: bench trials, personal injury claims and jury trials, restraining orders and injunctions, contested child custody and placement matters, landlord/tenant matters, and small claims trials.

I bring my concern for immigrants to the field of criminal defense to aid those in particularly difficult situations where one may face deportation, inadmissibility, or ineligibility for legal permanent residence or citizenship because of criminal allegations. In the past, I helped numerous individuals and families obtain legal permanent residence and U.S. citizenship in northern Wisconsin.

Background

I was born in Milwaukee and later grew up on a small dairy farm in Rib Lake, Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with majors in Philosophy and Business Administration, and a minor in Political Science. I was a collegiate athlete in both football and track and field.

I graduated from Marquette University Law School in 2010. At Marquette, I interned under the Honorable Rebecca F. Dallet (now Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice) in the Milwaukee County Circuit Court Felony Division. I also interned with the State Public Defender's Office and the Catholic Charities Immigration Project. I made the Dean's List at Marquette and was a member of the St. Thomas More Society.

In 2010, I joined Crooks, Low & Connell, S.C., in Wausau, Wisconsin, and later became partner.

In 2020, I started my own legal practice focused exclusively on criminal and DUI defense.

When not defending my clients, I enjoy spending time with my family, church, the community, and the great outdoors.

Even good people make mistakes. But the worst mistake is to represent yourself in a criminal or OWI case without even knowing your options.

I have more than a decade of experience getting clients out of difficult situations and obtaining outstanding results, such as: trial acquittals, suppression successes, case dismissals, countless felonies amended or dismissed, probation revocation victories, OWIs dismissed or amended to lesser offenses, and other creative solutions.
